Santee Chamber Communications Coordinator

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the daily messaging of our company to the membership. The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the President/CEO and can be secondly overseen by the Operations Manager in the absence or direction of the President/CEO.

                    

ESSENTIAL OBJECTIVES:                

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the following, primary objectives:    

  • (1) Responsible for ensuring delivery of daily, weekly, quarterly, seasonal and specialty marketing as needed social media 

  • (2) Responsible for creating weekly electronic newsletter for membership, media, non-profit organizations and additional community subscribers 

  • (3) Responsible for writing and publishing internal Press Releases and publishing external/member Press Releases

  • (4) Responsible for managing and maintaining general inbox for chamber email inquiries

  • (5) Responsible for assisting with the deliverables needed to produce the quarterly publication The Santee Magazine

                             
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                        The Communication Coordinator is responsible for the following, specific duties:        

  • (1) Ensure the regular delivery of social media:

    • Ensuring the Santee Chamber maintains a professional online presence conducive to our organization’s mission, values and goals while adhering to the Chamber’s brand identity

    • Creates consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns on Social Media Calendar in accordance with strategies provided by the President/CEO

    • Clearly and professionally communicates with social media followers including responding to inquiries in a timely manner

    • Uses analytical tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook Insights to monitor and evaluate the Chamber’s social media presence and performance

    • Assists in monthly reports on social media marketing efforts and suggests recommendations to adjust the strategies for optimal 

  • (2) Create weekly electronic newsletter for membership, media, non-profit organizations and additional community subscribers 

    • Collect and organize information related to Chamber’s brand pillars

    • Receive and organize information related to Chamber’s brand pillars from President/CEO

    • Style content into reader-friendly newsletter format

    • Incorporate Chamber brand identity into overall theme of newsletter

    • Suggest and/or consider content from weekly newsletter to social media content calendar

    • Hyperlink information, upload logos and images, proofread, and schedule newsletter delivery within timeframe provided by President/CEO

  • (3) Writing and publishing Press Releases 

    • Prepare internal press releases for the Chamber with direction from the President/CEO

    • Assist members with publishing their press releases under their user accounts in CRM system

    • Disperse Press Releases to local news and media sources

  • (4) Manage and maintain general inbox for chamber email inquiries

    • Checks emails daily and responds to in order which they are received

    • Forwards emails to other staff and/or Board members as needed

    • Create/send reminders of tasks associated within emails

    • Follows up with tasks associated within emails

    • Maintains orderly filing of emails once they have been responded to and any associated tasks within have been completed

  • (5) Assists with the deliverables needed to produce the quarterly publication The Santee Magazine 

    • Creates, updates, suggests templates, and/or formats information upon request of the President/CEO and saves for use of publication

    • Maintains and/or oversees tracking sheet for content on each issue

    • Has member contact for those with purchased advertising space included in membership or purchased in advance

    • Sends media kits and answers questions to parties interested in advertising

    • Has knowledge of media kit details and can effectively sell advertising opportunities when/if needed    

QUALIFICATIONS:            

  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google office products

  • Proficient in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linked In, etc.

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn use of sites such as Canva, Milkshake, Ripl, etc. 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills                    

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Inherently a strong communicator, problem solver, and relational

  • Possess a strong ethical business attitude

  • Naturally confident, trustworthy, creative, motivated, optimistic, and coachable

  • Flexibility in hours, responsibilities and a willingness to take on additional duties

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn CRM system, ChamberMaster/Growth Zone

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The position may work in a professional office environment, telecommute at a home-office, and/or work on event sites.

Pay range will be within $16 - $18 an hour. Will be a part time position with hours ranging from 15 - 20 hours weekly.
