Last Thursday the City of Santee kicked off a series of events starting with a relay around town, to hosting Olympic trials and ending with a 5K run under the beautiful Santee sunset. I want to personally thank Bree Humphrey who has been with the City’s staff for many years and made a name for herself with her strong work ethic and high standard for producing impactful events for our community. She invited the Chamber to participate in the relay and it was my pleasure to be part of the celebration. Thanks to Jay Renard also (I stole this picture from his collection!) for always being around to capture the fun, as he grabbed a quick snapshot of me with two Chamber members who were also part of the relay: Dean Velasco of Riverwalk Grill and Greg Gagnon of The UPS Store.
This weekend the highly anticipated re-opening of Mast Park will be taking place. I’m excited to be at the ceremony this Saturday (at 11am) to get a firsthand look at the hard work that’s taken place over the past 13 months. This park is the closest to my home and will be a bike ride away for our family. For those who can’t make it on Saturday, be sure to get over to the park and enjoy our winter wonderland weather at the newest park in town! Next week I’ll be off to Portland to learn among several other chamber professionals at an annual conference held by the Western Association of Chamber Executives. Our office will have reduced hours and I will be limited to respond to emails, but I’m looking forward to connecting with my group of peers and hearing all about what kind of greatness our chambers can share.
