Santee Chamber Weekly Update 091423

Hello Santee!

Last night an exciting City Council meeting was held with several exciting topics for Santee. My main area of interest fell on agenda item 9 when they hosted a public workshop on the Town Center Specific Plan Update maybe more commonly referred to in the public as the development of the "Arts and Entertainment District". This workshop provided input on preferred concepts (from public feedback), proposed boundary lines, land uses and more as the City staff sought direction of the project from the Council.

The Public was also able to chime in on their thoughts and feelings. We saw several Chamber members in attendance, supporting the development of town center and encouraging the advancement of arts and entertainment at the heart of the concepts proposed. Immediate Past Chair of the Santee Chamber, Darcy Fagerwold, was one of the first to take the microphone to share her thoughts. She owns Expressions Dance & Movement Center and often partners with past Director, Tim Staump, owner of Staump Music School. Collectively, they serve over 1,000 families each month with dance and music lessons, clearly having some skin in the game when it comes to performing arts. It's people like Darcy and Tim who are behind the scenes, developing our kids and shaping youth service standards in town who now use their voice to speak for an entire industry in a community they love and respect.
