Santee Chamber Weekly Update 23JAN20

Hello Santee!
We are right in the middle of awards season in Hollywood and I feel full of glee as we are one and the same in Santee. Yesterday I was able to stop in and personally congratulate a few members of our Chamber who have made a difference in 2019. First was Curtis Anderson, Co-Owner of Salon Thrive. He will be receiving the Santee Young Professional of the Year award and we couldn’t be more thrilled. He too was all smiles as I delivered his congratulatory giant donut (Thanks, Mary’s!) and he proved he’s not only an amazing professional, but also an amazing husband and father as he was managing two young children while still getting tasks done for the salon. Next up was Kyle Steck as I went to let him know that Chick-fil-A Santee has won Business of the Year for 2019. Kyle graciously let me interrupt a meeting with one of his team leaders as we chatted in disbelief (on his end!) of what this past year has brought to him, personally and professionally. I look forward to honoring these individuals, businesses and the then-to-be-announced winners of our Santee’s Favorites voting program at our Business Awards Night next month. This event is one of our best nights for networking with about 200 community guests from various business organizations around town. It’s full of great food, a silent auction, friends and potential business connections, and joy as we cheer for our business members and celebrate everyone’s success. I hope some of you will purchase tickets to join in the fun.

Next up, keep an eye out this weekend for some key events hosted by the City which will kick-off this afternoon. I’ll be one of the several members of our community chosen to participate in the Santee Celebrates America Relay around town to honor the U.S. 50km Race Walk Olympic Trials that will take place this Saturday. The relay will begin at West Hills High School at 3:30pm and will cover a six-mile course as local business owners, students, citizens, and organization representatives carry an American flag. Current and former Olympians will accompany the relay. The relay will end at the clock tower at Santee Trolley Square at 5:30 p.m., where we will host an Opening Ceremony to recognize the athletes and relay participants. Please join us and cheer on the relay runners and athletes. For more information and a course map, visit www.SanteeSpecialEvents.com
