Santee Chamber Weekly Update 16APR20

Hello Santee!
“Give yourself some grace.” This was said to me right when I needed to hear it. It’s so relevant to me as a business owner, a mom, a wife, and the goal oriented person that I am. Like many of you, our business has been adversely affected by this pandemic. As an essential business we remain open—but obviously it is not business as usual.
Sometimes being a business owner can feel lonely. We have a big responsibility to our employees and customers—employment stability and safety. It has been inspiring to watch businesses mold and pivot and adapt to new restrictions. I have really enjoyed seeing those businesses that could turn to digital content and online services. For us, electrical work doesn’t translate well to virtual visits. DIY panel upgrade anyone? (Just kidding, don’t do that.) This leads me to share how grateful I am for the business relationships we have made through the years. From the Santee Chamber to BNI to online Facebook Trade Groups, there is so much knowledge and learning being shared and built upon. It takes courage to share on these platforms but it has been so rewarding. These connections have given us so much and it feels a little less lonely supporting each other to see this through—and stay in business.
With a few weeks to think about what needs to change and what we can work on now, I thought I would share our current focus—working through to better days.
1.    How can we further enhance our skills as experts in the field?
2.    How do we stay top of mind?
3.    How do we nurture our customer relationships without regular face-to face interactions?
Oh and we started a blog. It’s new and it is relevant and hopefully, entertaining. It’s not perfect and it’s evolving, but we are giving ourselves some grace to aim high and move forward. Take care of yourselves, give yourself some grace, although so much is uncertain, there is still so much to be thankful for— we are better (virtually) together.
