Santee Chamber Weekly Update 25MAY23

Hello Santee!

Last week I had the pleasure of attending CalChamber’s Capitol Summit in Sacramento. As a first-time attendee, I was so excited to finally make it to this event as the only East County Chamber represented onsite. The program opened with remarks from veteran journalist Dan Walters, columnist for CalMatters, followed by a panel session which focused on housing/homelessness. The keynote speaker was ever-impressive Dee Dee Myers, senior advisor to the Governor, director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and former White House press secretary.

After the Summit, attendees had the option to stop by the “swing building” of the Capitol where we had the opportunity to discuss key issues facing the state with our local legislators, followed by a more casual setting to continue those conversations with elected officials and other business leaders as we rounded out the evening at the Sacramento Host Reception. I am so grateful to have the Santee Chamber represented on business matters when it comes to statewide legislation and look forward to continuing to build those relationships.

For now, our Weekly Update is brief as our staff is planning for our annual Santee Street Fair which I hope you all join us for THIS Saturday on Riverview Parkway from 10am-6pm. Bring the whole family for food, carnival rides, shopping with vendors, an art show, live entertainment and a beer garden for those 21 and up!
