Santee Chamber Weekly Update 29JUN23

Hello Santee!

Last week I attended the annual membership meeting for the East County Economic Development Council, hosted at Grossmont College. The ECEDC’s mission is to empower East County to create a thriving economic environment where education, business, government, and community can convene, collaborate, and compete. These ideals are a perfect partnership with any neighboring chamber of commerce as we are actively seeking out ways to fill the needs of businesses from the bottom up. It was my personal pleasure to be accepted by the nominating committee (and then approved by the board at this meeting) to join their board of directors starting next month. I am really looking forward to my two-year term.

It was here I was also able to hear a presentation from Jordan Marks, Taxpayer Advocate for the County of San Diego Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk. Jordan started at the Assessor’s office in 2017 and is a Certified Property Tax Appraiser and Licensed Attorney, concentrating in financial transactions. His impressive resume and track record for the public goes on, but one of my favorite things about him is how he takes complicated tax laws and breaks them down not only for people to understand, but to proactively help save money when possible. Thanks for your hard work, Jordan, we are lucky to have you.
